Brett‘s career in the structural engineering industry spans more than 30 years, both in New Zealand and internationally. He is associated with some of the most iconic buildings throughout the South Island across a breadth of sectors, including commercial, sport and recreation and residential. Brett has significant expertise in the management and coordination of structural and civil design teams.

He has also been heavily involved with post trauma structural assessment, demolition strategy and earthquake strengthening following the Canterbury earthquakes and was a member of the World Trade Centre structural response team following the 9/11 attack.

With over 30 years in the design of building structures and advising technical aspects of design, Gary is well known in the industry both for his ability and his commitment to delivering industry firsts. Numerous industry awards are testimony to his professional ability.

Gary’s skill in the management and coordination of structural and civil design teams is well recognised and highly valued both by clients and other professional consultants involved in projects.

Chris has acquired significant experience and expertise as a specialist structural engineer working on a wide variety of projects. Chris is a very clear communicator and excels in the project team environment.

He has contributed to the structural design and undertaken construction monitoring of a wide range of commercial, residential, industrial, educational, health and leisure facilities. He has also been involved with numerous assessments of existing buildings and the subsequent development of strengthening designs.

As a specialist structural engineer, Chris plays a pivotal role within the client’s project team. His contribution to structural design is evident across a wide range of commercial, residential, industrial, educational, health and leisure facilities.

Vincent has provided structural engineering design on numerous projects across New Zealand. He enjoys working in a team environment, and has previous experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering office.

Vincent is able to understand the vision and desired outcome for a project and enjoys the challenge of adapting and applying structural concepts in 'out of the box' ways to assist the project team in delivering them. He has successfully achieved this with his structural design over a wide range of commercial, residential, industrial and educational projects.

Andrew’s background in civil engineering brings an added dimension to the Quoin offering. He is highly experienced in bridge engineering, tunnel and retaining wall design, both here and offshore. Andrew is also well regarded for his competency in developing seismic strengthening solutions.

Proficient in four languages and two dialects, Andrew is an asset to our offshore clients involved in New Zealand projects.

Richard has significant experience in residential design. His particular interest lies in the application of his technical skills to learnings taken from the Canterbury earthquakes in order to advance the development of seismic systems.

Working in a multi-disciplinary team, Richard brings valuable and agile thinking to any project.

Bob joined Quoin in February 2024 after completing his Master of Civil Engineering in 2020 at the University of Canterbury, and working with a Christchurch based structural consultant for three years.

He enjoys challenging projects, solving complex problems, and providing the highest level of delivery to our Clients.

Brad joined us as a Graduate from the University of Canterbury in 2022. He has a passion for earthquake engineering and spent his final year researching long period earthquake amplifications for structures.

He has worked on multiple commercial projects to date and undertaken construction monitoring on both residential and commercial projects.

Enthusiastic to learn, Brad enjoys developing his engineering expertise alongside our experienced Quoin team.

Chris joined Quoin as a graduate engineer after completing his studies at the University of Canterbury.

He enjoys encountering new engineering challenges and exploring different solutions to find the right fit for the job, and has done so on a variety of commercial and residential projects.

Wendy is a career Structural Draughtsman.  Her experience in the construction and detailing of building projects, large and small, is second to none.

Not only does Wendy’s experience make her a very capable leader of the design draughting team, but the contribution she makes to the project design considerations is highly valued by client and consultants alike.

With more than 28 years in design and build, Sam has developed an enviable expertise in structural and architectural draughting. He has also witnessed many a trend in the construction sector and has developed a rare skill in overlaying practicality without forfeiting form.

Sam’s experience in structural design is well-rounded and covers commercial, industrial and residential projects including new builds, alterations and remedial work and is highly adept at facilitating the necessary compliance associated with a given project.

Matt has a passion for the built environment and has over ten years' experience in the industry delivering commercial designs, both as a structural draughtsman and as a civil engineer.

With an eye for detail and a unique perspective of the design process, Matt's experience, coupled with his practical construction knowledge, makes him a great asset to our team.

Kevin joined our draughting team with experience in a range of projects in a variety of scales.  These include commercial, residential and winery projects.  He is skilled in REVIT.

Kevin, originally from South Korea, qualified in New Zealand as a civil engineering technician. He strives to bring the best results to every project and is interested in all aspects of building.

Denise completed her engineering degree at the University of Auckland, but has transferred her skills to the draughting arena.

She comes to Quoin with experience in residential, industrial and telecommunications projects, and offers a fresh and innovative approach to structural design across the breadth of our projects.

With a background in the legal sector, conveyancing, professional services, industry and now engineering, Chris is one of the most skilled professional support individuals around. She has assumed a pivotal role in many an organisation over the years, often assuming the responsibility of sole charge. It is this breadth and depth of experience and capability that proves so extraordinarily valuable to the Quoin team, professional associates and clients alike.

Quite simply, in the office, if Chris doesn’t know, then no one else does.

With a background in accounts and credit control for both domestic and international companies, together with the general management skills demanded of motherhood, Amanda brings a disciplined and thoughtful approach to the administrative functions within the business.
